Happy Paw-ever After with @Harveydafrenchieandco

Sharing is caring!

Arya the Frenchie lives up to the reputation of her name sake much like her name sake, Arya Stark, Game of Thrones most beloved characters. ‘The first meeting was hilarious, Harvey was really excited to see this small little puppy he could dominate, but little did he know that Arya had been living with four other large dogs and had the confidence of a one as well. She didn’t hold back, she barked and grumbled at him when he wouldn’t pay attention to her, she would run and throw her butt at him and jump all over his back. He was completely shocked but learnt very quickly who was going to wear the pants’. In this Insta-Rescue Story, we learn about how this powerful little rescue has changed the lives of her new family.

Arya is the boss in our family and is extremely mischievous. When we first brought her home, Harvey was a little shocked. They had previously met, however, I don’t think he was expecting us to bring her home one day. The first week was completely manic. Arya is a pup that is full of beans, energetic and demands attention, something we all weren’t used too with two dogs. Soon enough she learnt how to play, sit and stay which was always followed by treats. Matt and myself couldn’t imagine not having her cheeky little face apart of our family, nor could Harvey, he would be lost without her. They are inseparable and often whinge when they are apart, other than when they are in their crates.

What does Arya add to your life?

Happiness, companionship and love. I feel like I could rattle on an endless list of words that come to mind but it really comes down to these three fundamental things. Arya has allowed us to see Harvey enjoy having a friend and playmate. She has provided us with endless cuddles and kisses when we get home or have had a rough day. They both keep us on our toes and remind us to be selfless. Arya, and Harvey make me smile and completely fill my heart with love and joy.

What does she do that makes you laugh?

When Arya plays she often runs away from Harvey or other dogs to give herself a run up to tackle them or throw her bottom in their face. It is the funniest and cutest thing I’ve ever seen, she literally whips them with her butt.

What is your favourite thing to do as a family?

It is almost impossible to pick one thing. I love taking Arya out on little adventures and walks (even though walking them together is near impossible), snuggling on the lounge and taking her to puppy school.

What do you think you mean to your dog?

I always wonder this, and as lame as it sounds, I hope they somewhat see us as their family or parents who are going to love them endlessly.

In two words, what does your dog mean to you?

Love and Happiness

How has Arya changed your life?

Arya has change our lives dramatically. She is a very needy puppy which has reminded us how lucky and easy things were with Harvey. She are changed the energy in the house and really brought the best (and unfortunately the worst) out of Harvey by making him play with her. Without a doubt, she makes us smile every single day and I honestly look forward to coming home to them every afternoon.

We’d love to hear your adoption story, do you know her background? What was it like when you first rescued her?

I was scrolling through my Facebook feed when this adorable little puppy popped up on my screen, she was tiny! I instantly clicked on the link for the page “Paws A Moment & Recuse” and read her bio. She was a sassy and playful pup who was great with other dogs and children who was looking for a home with another French Bulldog. I didn’t think twice and sent off my expression of interest. Once I had received information back from the recuse about the next sets and price, I figured it was best that I tell my partner Matthew about her. He laughed on the phone when I said that I had put in an expression of interest for another Frenchie and said it would be the perfect fit but we can’t get our hopes up. The process was fantastic! It was thorough and covered all areas of the adoption. It began with filling out a google form and if you were a fitting family, you would receive a informal phone interview from her foster parents. We were lucky enough to make that shortlist (more than 50 people applied for her) and only 5 got a phone call. After a 45 minute conversation, we were invited to a meet and greet. It was through the conversation that I learnt about Ayra’s start in life.

She was purchased from a breeder, however, returned because they were ‘allergic’, the breeder decided to give her to rescue. It wasn’t a lot of information and hard to really tell much by the story, by the rescue took her in and loved her to pieces.

The first meeting was hilarious, Harvey was really excited to see this small little puppy he could dominate, but little did he know that Arya had been living with four other large dogs and had the confidence of a one as well. She didn’t hold back, she barked and grumbled at him when he wouldn’t pay attention to her, she would run and throw her butt at him and jump all over his back. He was completely shocked but learnt very quickly who was going to wear the pants. After an hour of playing so incredibly well together and providing all the evidence that we have a suitable home and family (this included documentation of owning and living in a house and a steady income), they asked if we would like to adopt Arya. Matt and I looked at each other with such excitement and said that we would be honored (not going to lie, I cried a little)!

Arya is a pup who wants to be the centre of attention and has to be surrounded by others. She is cheeky and inquisitive, digging holes, ruining shoes, books and toys but I wouldn’t want her crazy personality to be any other way.

This wonderful story is a part of the @lovetailsphotography X @Poundpaws Insta Rescue Campaign, spreading positive stories and the adopt don’t shop message and helping you find your next BFF.
